Raleigh, NC – The North Carolina Professionals Health Program (NCPHP) is excited to announce an important leadership milestone. In March 2026, Dr. Sarah W. Young joined our team as Medical Director, bringing exceptional clinical expertise, physician leadership, and a deep commitment to recovery-oriented care. This appointment reflects the continued evolution of NCPHP as we strengthen our ability to serve North Carolina’s healthcare professionals with the highest standards of confidentiality, clinical excellence, and compassionate support.
Dr. Young’s leadership experience as a hospitalist and physician executive at UNC Health Caldwell — including service as Chief Medical Officer, Chief of Medicine, and Physician Advisor — brings tremendous depth in physician engagement, clinical governance, patient safety, and quality improvement.
Equally important, Dr. Young already understands the heart of our mission through her prior service on the NCPHP Board of Directors, where she has helped guide important work related to physician health, safety, and professionalism.
As healthcare systems continue to face increasing pressures on clinician well-being, the role of physician health programs has never been more important. Dr. Young’s experience, wisdom, and credibility will help us continue building innovative, trusted pathways that support recovery, protect patient safety, and preserve careers.
We are incredibly optimistic about this next chapter for NCPHP and grateful to welcome Dr. Young’s leadership to our team.
